PROJECT BRIEF:
Edit the five-yearly State of the Environment report for the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability in preparation for its submission to Parliament and release to the media and Victorian public.

DESCRIPTION:

The Office of the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability engaged Red Pony to edit and proofread the 2008 State of the Environment report prior to its official release.

This exhaustive 500-page report examined the condition of Victoria’s atmosphere, land and biodiversity, inland waters, coasts, estuaries and the sea.

Red Pony brought a consistent format and tone to the report, which was the work of over a dozen different subject matter experts.

Red Pony worked with the Commissioner’s office to establish a consistent set of styles for the report content, then applied these styles and conventions to a succession of documents as they were made available by the authors.

Red Pony was able to bring the varied contributions of the authors into accord, finding a common voice for the report that reflected the central objectives of the Commissioner.

Red Pony faced an extremely tight deadline to deliver the final sections of the report, which was duly met.

The State of the Environment report was released in December 2008 and received extensive media coverage. It will form the basis of Victorian environmental policy at this most crucial time.
