Peter D. Riches
Managing Director, Principal Consultant
Red Pony founder and Managing Director, Peter Riches, has more than ten years experience developing award-winning IT
and multimedia projects in Australia and overseas. He is a member of
the Society of Editors (Vic) and the Australian Society for Technical Communication (Victoria), and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in English Literature.
Peter spent five years with Melbourne's Senojweb
as Content Director and Information Architect, and was a key member of
the team that developed the award-winning ABS educational CD-ROM, 'A
Tale Of Two Worlds'.
In 2002 Peter moved to Ireland where he was
employed as an instructional designer for Riverdeep Interactive (now Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). Back
in Australia, he worked as a technical writer for Infosys Technologies before being commissioned to produce the 'Effective Engagement Kit' for
the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment. This kit
remains a benchmark in the field of community engagement.
Peter established Red Pony in 2003 (registered as a company in 2006) to provide writing, editing and communications consultancy services to business.
He is passionate about the use of plain English and the creation of user-centric documentation. Peter has presented at conferences and professional forums, as well as being a regular guest lecturer for the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne.
Andrew Eather
Senior Consultant
Joining Red Pony in 2008, senior consultant Andrew Eather has a background in academic and literary editing. He has edited numerous research papers subsequently published in international scientific journals. His own writing has been published in the Melbourne Age. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing from RMIT University.
At Red Pony Andrew has been responsible for producing a variety of high profile documents for federal and state government departments including the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria.
He proofread the 2009 annual report of Ombudsman Victoria and edited the 2008 State of the Environment report for the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability.
Andrew is the author and presenter of Red Pony’s Clear Writing course—a half-day seminar that conveys the key principles behind the effective planning, structure and execution of any piece of writing.
Kyra-Bae Snell
Senior Consultant
Kyra is an experienced writer, editor and trainer. She has extensive experience in the corporate and education sector writing and editing detailed documents and reports, tender responses and web copy, as well as designing and conducting vocational training.
Kyra's strong academic background (coupled with over ten years of professional experience) means that she has excellent research skills and is quick to understand the client’s needs.
Having worked with a range of government bodies, Kyra has assisted clients prepare quality reports and instructional materials for a range of different audiences.
Kyra holds Bachelor and Master of Arts (English) degrees from Monash University in addition to a Diploma of Education, a Master of Professional Education and Training (Corporate Training) and a Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing.
