DSE training package
CLIENT:
Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE)
PROJECT
BRIEF:
Develop a structured training package, based on existing ad hoc
documentation, to enable other providers to deliver the DSE community
engagement planning course 'out-of-the-box'.
DESCRIPTION:
The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment is
recognised internationally as a leader in the field of community
engagement, and the DSE Effective Engagement kit is considered an industry
benchmark. The DSE has also developed a number of training courses to
assist staff develop their skills in this area.
Owing to the considerable interest in this
training from other government agencies and NGOs, particularly the
'fundamentals' course, the DSE decided to develop a training package
that could be used 'out-of-the-box'. DSE Project Leader Martin Butcher
asked Red Pony to help.
Red Pony examined the content being delivered in
the training and developed an overall structure for the package.
In order to make the course delivery as simple as
possible for facilitators, the package was divided into an instruction
manual, a participant manual and a comprehensive set of teaching
resources including PowerPoint slides, running sheets and process
charts.
The final package is delivered as a CD to
training facilitators containing everything they require to conduct the
community engagement 'fundamentals' course.
"Red Pony provided quality advice, and
was always willing to find ways that would improve the product."
Martin Butcher, Community Engagement
Facilitator, DSE
