$60m to upgrade bridges in parks and reserves

The State Government of Victoria has allocated $60 million in the 2008 Budget to upgrade bridges on public land.

The funding will be used to improve access to public land and water catchments for people who visit parks and the firefighters who protect them.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said the State Budget funding would mean better, safer access to some of Victoria's top tourist attractions.

The funding is the result of a successful Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) submission by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria.
