Swinburne enrolment forms

PROJECT BRIEF
Remodel the content and design of an enrolment application form to provide a clear and intuitive process for students applying to Swinburne programs.
Swinburne has a strong reputation in Australia and overseas as a provider of career-oriented education. Swinburne offers programs from apprenticeships to doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines.
Swinburne brought in Red Pony to help with designing an application form it had developed that combined 15 separate forms into a single multiform document.
Red Pony reviewed the layout and instructional text of the draft form. This review ensured that the draft form contained all the guidance needed by a diverse range of users to complete the application process and provide comprehensive and accurate information.
Red Pony created a master template to establish the basic format, layout and text styles for the new form. This template was applied to the multiform content and TAFE certificate version.
The layout of the form had to provide a clear and logical pathway through the application process and facilitate accurate data collection. In addition, the design had to meet the specifications of Swinburne’s back-end systems and data-entry requirements.
Red Pony’s experience in instructional design proved invaluable when it came to crafting the instructional text guiding users through the steps required to complete the form.
The relationship between Red Pony and the Swinburne project team was crucial to the project’s success. It enabled Red Pony to produce a form that met the requirements of a diverse group of stakeholders and deliver to a tight timeline.
“The layout of the form had to provide a clear and logical pathway through the application process and facilitate accurate data collection, and meet the requirements of Swinburne’s back-end systems and associated data-entry processes.”
