Hostplus annual report

Hostplus Pty Limited (Hostplus)
PROJECT BRIEF
Copyedit and proofread Hostplus’s 2019 annual report.
Hostplus is a not-for-profit superannuation fund for employees in the hospitality, tourism, recreation and sport industries. With more than 1.77 million members and $110 billion in funds under management, Hostplus is one of the largest superannuation funds in Australia.
While annual reporting is a legislative requirement to account for the financial health and outlook of the company to regulators and fund members, it also presents an opportunity to highlight achievements for the year and showcase the fund’s competitiveness to investors.
Given the diverse audience for the report, Red Pony was briefed to ensure the tone and terminology were suitable for a broad readership.
Red Pony began the project by reviewing the supplied materials to identify gaps in information and areas where the report structure could be improved.
A critical component was creating a unified voice within the multi-authored document.
We then copyedited the draft report, which included correcting errors in grammar, syntax, punctuation and spelling, improving the logic, clarity and flow, and clarifying ambiguities and inconsistencies.
Red Pony created a bespoke style sheet to record editorial decisions and ensure that the agreed writing style and terminology was applied consistently.
A significant amount of new and revised material was supplied after the report was copyedited. Red Pony rapidly completed a second copyedit before undertaking a final proofread to ensure the report was clear, accurate and accessible to the widest possible audience.
The result was a 120-page report that Hostplus could trust to demonstrate its performance and achievements to regulators, members and investors alike.
