Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC)

PROJECT BRIEF

Coordinate the production of IBAC annual reports, including project management, writing, formatting, copyediting and proofreading services.

IBAC is responsible for preventing and exposing public sector corruption and police misconduct in Victoria.

After copyediting and proofreading IBAC’s 2018–19 annual report, Red Pony was again engaged, this time to also manage the development and production of the 2019–20 to 2024–25 annual reports.

One of Red Pony’s first steps was to establish a schedule of regular meetings with the IBAC project team.

Victorian Government agency annual reports must adhere to a standard structure provided by the Department of Treasury and Finance as a model report. Red Pony mapped the content from previous IBAC annual reports to this structure, then assigned a content owner within IBAC who would be responsible for each section.

We created a custom Microsoft Word template for content owners to populate with relevant information from their business areas. Where practical and relevant, previous reports (including tables, charts and infographics) were repurposed and updated with current information.

Due to the nature of their work, some content required review by IBAC’s legal team. Red Pony coordinated this process and ensured that any necessary changes were incorporated into the draft report.

Once the draft was complete, Red Pony formatted, styled and copyedited the entire document and provided it to the designer for layout.

Any further changes from the executive review were incorporated into the accessible Word version and the print-ready designed document.

Red Pony continues to work with IBAC on the annual report and other major publications. In 2024, IBAC exercised its option to extend the annual report contract with Red Pony for a further 2 years.
