PROJECT BRIEF

PwC Australia engaged Red Pony in a dual capacity – to provide a structural review of a 30,000-word document in draft stage, and to edit and proofread the document in its final iterations.

PwC Australia is one of Australia’s leading professional services firms. Part of a global consulting network, PwC Australia provides consulting services in the areas of financial services, energy and mining, consumer and retail, healthcare and infrastructure.

PwC regularly issues ‘thought leadership’ papers that address issues of concern. Typically PwC convenes a forum of industry or area experts and chairs consultation meetings, then develops a paper that draws on these consultations, which is circulated among community and industry decision-makers in Australia and internationally.

PwC saw benefit in engaging a ‘critical friend’ to offer an independent perspective on its thought leadership paper on the then-proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

After attending a number of consultation meetings and reviewing the preliminary draft, Red Pony wrote an editorial review that offered analysis and suggestions to further shape and progress the paper.

Red Pony’s contribution improved the structure and refined the overall narrative.

Red Pony carried out substantial copyediting and proofreading as the project neared completion, bringing consistency of form and voice to a thought piece that represented many expert opinions.

The final version of Disability expectations: Investing in a better life, a stronger Australia was launched in November 2011 by Governor-General Quentin Bryce.

The NDIS went on to be legislated in 2013, and was fully implemented by 2020.
